(I have a feeling the answer lies in the roadmap to national restoration.) Be that as it may, not even the wisdom, understanding, the counsel of unjust leaders, nor all their power or might, will prevail against the Lord. To find the answer to that question would be a better use of time than all the campaigning and politicking in the world. If a nation has unjust leadership, and the Lord has not turned their hearts to justice, like rivers of water, when He can, what does that say? Why has He not? I think the wise among His children would do well to ponder this. There is no wisdom or understanding or counsel against the LORD. On the other hand, he commends righteousness and justice, pure conduct, wise. He also mentions what the Lord despises: pride, love of money, violence, the conduct of the wicked, the withholding of charity, bribery, and apostasy. The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water He turns it wherever He wishes. Proverbs 21:116 continues Solomon's wise observations (Proverbs 10:1) by acknowledging the Lord's control of kings. But what spoke loudly to me this morning, was the A pair. Sure enough, many of the same concepts are repeated there however, I do not have it mapped yet. Since this structure comes at the end of a strong theme, I thought perhaps we would find a repeat of it at the beginning of the strong theme, Pro 19:10 and following. Pro 19:10-21:30 Wisdom to discern good or evil, the wise or foolish course Pro 21:1-30 chiastic structure ģ0 There is no wisdom or understanding or counsel against the Lord.ģ1 The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance and victory are of the Lord.Read Proverbs 21 at Bible Gateway. ( F)Ģ4 The proud and haughty man-Scoffer is his name-deals and acts with overbearing pride.Ģ5 The desire of the slothful kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.Ģ6 He covets greedily all the day long, but the righteous gives and does not withhold. ( D)ġ4 A gift in secret pacifies and turns away anger, and a bribe in the lap, strong wrath.ġ5 When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous (the upright, in right standing with God), but to the evildoers it is dismay, calamity, and ruin.ġ6 A man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall abide in the congregation of the spirits (of the dead).ġ7 He who loves pleasure will be a poor man he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.ġ8 The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the treacherous for the upright. ( C)ġ1 When the scoffer is punished, the fool gets a lesson in being wise but men of Wisdom and good sense learn by being instructed.ġ2 The righteous man considers well the house of the wicked-how the wicked are cast down to ruin.ġ3 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor will cry out himself and not be heard. ĥ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness, but everyone who is impatient and hasty hastens only to want.Ħ Securing treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven to and fro those who seek them seek death.ħ The violence of the wicked shall sweep them away, because they refuse to do justice.Ĩ The way of the guilty is exceedingly crooked, but as for the pure, his work is right and his conduct is straight.ĩ It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a nagging, quarrelsome, and faultfinding woman.ġ0 The soul or life of the wicked craves and seeks evil his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes. ( B)Ĥ Haughtiness of eyes and a proud heart, even the tillage of the wicked or the lamp to them, are sin. ( A)ģ To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. 21 The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses He turns it whichever way He wills.Ģ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and tries the hearts.
